Warren Ross Lowry

Warren Ross Lowry, 91, formerly of Lawrence and Plainfield, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014. He was born April 27, 1922 to the late Marion and Bessie (Ross) Lowry in Loogootee, IL. He was a WWII decorated combat veteran and a 50 plus year member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge. He worked 32 years as a brakeman for NY Central RR retiring in 1978. Ross is survived by his four sons, Dennis, Philip, David and Daniel Lowry; a sister, Hazel Kyd; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Willms. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with Military Honors and Masonic Rites at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. A private burial will take place on Saturday, March 8 in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Mattoon, IL.
