Albert J. Poloncic, 90, of Plainfield, IN., passed away June 27, 2008 in his residence. He was born July 11, 1917 in Forest City, PA. to the late John and Anna (Opecka) Poloncic. He was a security supervisor for Indiana Bell Telephone, retiring in 1982. He enlisted in the Army in 1936 and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service in June of 1967 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He received both the Army and Air Force Commendation Medals as well as a Major Command Citation. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 0329, DAV, VFW and the Telephone Pioneers. Albert was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be Monday, June 30 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Entombment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, G. Nadine Poloncic; son, Ronald J. Poloncic; daughters, Judith A. Christenson and Debra A. Schlegel; 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. Contributions may be made to the church building fund or organization of your choice.
