Ernest Hardy Holmes

Ernest H. Holmes, 77, of Plainfield, IN. passed away June 20, 2008. He was born July 16, 1930 in Muncie, IN. to the late Herman and Retha Holmes. He retired in 1987 from Arsenal Technical High School as a teacher. Prior to that he taught at Decatur Central High School as well as Plainfield High School. He received his B.S. and Master's degrees from Ball State University. He was a WW II Air Force veteran of the Korean War and member of the Danville American Legion. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23 at 7:30 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5:00 pm until the time of service. Survivors include his wife, Helen Holmes; son, Mark (Mary) Holmes; daughter, Cindra (Dan) Hessler; sister, Maryruth Taylor; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, David Holmes.
