Robert S. Castetter, 96, of Plainfield, passed away December 1, 2013. He was born in Plainfield, IN on June 9, 1917 to the late Robert S. and Effie M. Castetter. He was a WWII Army veteran. Bob had worked for Kroger as a manager for 25 years. In 1959 he became the manager of Marsh Supermarket in Plainfield retiring in 1979. His memberships include Plainfield Friends Meeting, Hendricks County Historical Society, Guilford Township Historical Society, Nysewander-Bayliff American Legion Post #0329, VFW, and was the last surviving charter member of the Plainfield Optimist Club. In 2010 he was the Grand Marshall for the Plainfield Quaker Days Parade. In 1938 he married Eloise (Hopkins) Castetter. She passed away in 2000 after 62 years of marriage. Also, preceding him in death were 4 brothers, 5 sisters and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 7, at 10:00 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call on Friday, December 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his daughters, Marcia McCarter and Anita (Don) Abplanalp; sister, Lucy Wilson; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
