Kenneth E. Barnes, 84, of Plainfield, passed away September 18, 2013. He was born October 12, 1928 to the late Robert and Iva (Kemp) Barnes in Bridgeport, IN. He was a truck driver for Hygrade for 20 years and later an over-the-road truck driver for Roadway Express for 20 years retiring in 1989 where he received an award for 2 million accident-free miles. He also built custom homes in Hendricks County for over 40 years. He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church, and the Lions Club. As a volunteer, he sold tickets at both the Indinapolis Motor Speedway and the Indiana State Fairgrounds. He also taught Bible study at the Indiana Boys School. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Batton) Barnes; three daughters, Lisa Ann (Bob) Page, Linda K. Garman, and Lexa (Dan) Miller; a sister, Martha Silliman; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 21, 2013 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield where friends may call on Friday, September 20 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made at the Plainfield United Methodist Church.
