Esther Robertson Dowden

Esther Robertson Dowden, 91, of Plainfield died peacefully in her home on August 10, 2013. She was born October 12, 1921 to the late Charles Everett and Margaret (Gibson) Robertson in East St. Louis, IL. She was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church, Kappa Kappa Kappa, and several bridge groups. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Dowden; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Esther is survived by her son, Robert F. (Karen) Dowden II; a daughter, Kathryn (James) Crawford; a sister, Mary Ann Shrum; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A deep gratitude goes to Deb Carlino, her friend and loyal caregiver. Services will be in the chapel at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, where friends may call in the chapel on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Plainfield United Methodist Church.
