Jessie Raymond Spencer

Jessie Raymond "Red" Spencer, 87, of Plainfield, IN. passed away April 14, 2008. He was born May 27, 1920 in Hall, IN. to the late John and Linnie Spencer. In his early years he worked for International Harvester and Allison Transmission. Later, he was the owner of Spencer Motor Service and Spencer Body Shop as well as Hilltop Lawn and Garden Mower Repair Service. His memberships include the International Order of Odd Fellows and First Baptist Church of Plainfield. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 10:00 am in the chapel at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 16 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home. He was the widower of Leva Lee (Lane) Spencer. He was preceded in death by brothers, Luther, Lee, Joe, Woody, Ralph Spencer and Glen Gerkin; sister, Gracie Griggs. Survivors include 3 daughters, Glenda M. (Michael) Mendenhall, Linda L. (Bryan) Wilson and Kathy J. (Michael) Geoffrion; 2 brothers, James and Elbert "Jack" Spencer; sister, Dorothy Eaton; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many step grand and great grandchildren.
