John Allen Muench

John Allen Muench, 70, of Plainfield, passed away June 5, 2013. He was born March 5, 1943 to the late Walter and Dorothea (Wooten) Muench in Indianapolis, IN. He was a US Army veteran. He worked as a locomotive engineer for 38 years retiring from Conrail in 2005. He was a member of the Danville Post of the American Legion, the Plainfield Eagles, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He is survived by his son, John David Muench; a daughter, Tami L. (Rodney) Ratliff; two brothers, Ron and Tim Muench; a sister, Judy Mitchell; and three grandchildren, Lauren Ashely Ratliff, Chelsea Anne Ratliff and Alexis Muench. John was a devoted father and grandfather, who enjoyed watching his granddaughters participate in sports. He also enjoyed golfing and watching sports and just being with family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be at 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Saturday from 3:00 pm until service time at 5:00 pm. There will be a dinner at the Plainfield Eagles following the memorial service. He will be buried next to his parents in Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute at a later date.
