Bobby Raikes, 47, Plainfield, passed away on May 1, 2013. He is survived by his father Norm (Kaye) Raikes, Plainfield, and his mother Donna Brown, Indianapolis. Surviving children include Justin, 24; Chloe, 12; and Paxton, 9. Other survivors include brothers Jim (Glenda); and Gary (Lori); and sisters Carol; Debbie; Patty (Cary); and Cheri (Bill), and five nieces and one nephew. In addition to his family, Bobby will be truly missed by his girlfriend Rochelle Robles and her daughter Grace 9.
Bobby's passions included music and coaching his children. He applied his amazing gift of music through singing, songwriting, leading worship, organizing and leading a Christian band, and entertaining family and friends. He had a phenomenal innate gift for playing any and all musical pieces by ear. Bobby was accomplished on guitars, keyboards, drums, and whatever instrument was placed into his hands. He truly enjoyed playing the piano while accompanied by Paxton on drums, and Chloe on the saxophone.
Bobby shared an enthusiasm for video-gaming, as well as an exceptional aptitude for technology with his son Justin. He also loved coaching his daughter Chloe in Plainfield softball and his son Paxton in Little League baseball and basketball. Bobby was very athletic and excelled in basketball, track and golf, but also played numerous other sports throughout his life.
Bobby was a sales professional in the medical/healthcare industry, and had recently joined Aamco Medical. He was well-respected by his clients, their patients, and his co-workers.
Visitation will be held at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, on Sunday, May 5, from 2-8 P.M. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 6, at Plainfield Christian Church, followed by burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paxton and Chloe Raikes Memorial Fund at any PNC Bank branch.
