Pastor Carl A. Riley, 76, of Plainfield, passed away March 3, 2013. He was born January 31, 1937 to the late Carl B. and Lillian (Carrier) Riley in Bluff City, TN. He was ordained July 5, 1955. He graduated from Carson Newman College in 1959 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1966. He began his pastoral calling with Western Ave. Baptist Church in Connersville from 1966-69; and continued with Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield from 1969-76; and then with the First Baptist Church in Zion, IL from 1976-84; and from 1984 he pastored the Plainfield Baptist Church until he retired in 2000. He continued his ministry after retirement with the Buck Creek Baptist Church, Cumberland and finally retired again in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Kays) Riley; two sons, Carl A. Jr. (Susette) and Timothy D. (Melinda) Riley; two daughters, Bianca D. (Lawrence) Visk and Angel L. (Ross) Paznokas; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm Thursday March 7, 2013 at the Plainfield Baptist Church, 1575 Reeves Road, where friends may call on Thursday at the church from 4:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Mission Work Projects, 8421 Northern Dr., Avon, IN 46123.
