Douglas Mackey, 91, of Avon, passed away February 7, 2013. He was born to the late Dave and Mary (Klepper) Mackey in Hancock County, TN. The family moved to a farm in Greencastle, IN when he was 8. He was the middle child of ten brothers and sisters, two of which are still living, Ruth Brinson and Jo Ann Hedge. At 15 Doug joined the CC's in Worthington, IN. There he met and married Helen Palmer. The couple then moved to Indianapolis. They were married 40 years and had three children, Sue (Harold) Degenhart, Doug (Linda) Mackey, and Edythe (Donald) Staats. Doug served in the Marines during WWII. After returning home he worked 32 years as a tool and die maker for Link Belt. After Helen's death in 1979 Doug met and married Bonnie Wycoff. Bonnie has two daughters Karen (Randel) Ison and Jeannie Brewer. The couple have been married for 33 years and have been active members of Pastor David Clayton's Cornerstone City Church. Doug was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. Doug loved and dreamed of the Old West. A real cowboy at heart. He was a giver to all who needed help. A good man who loved the Lord and will be greatly missed by all who came in touch with his life. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Burial, Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
