Calvin E. Jones

Calvin E. Jones, 86, of Avon, passed away February 6, 2013. He was born December 3, 1926 to the late Clarence and Zella Pennington Jones in Leslie County, KY. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a coal miner at V & C Coal Co for 13 years, before working as a skilled tradesmen for Allisons Div. of GM for 30 years. After retiring from Allisons he worked for FedEx for 15 years retiring in 2009. He was a member of Living Faith Baptist Church. Calvin is survived by his wife, Dora A. (Herron) Jones; four children, Terry and Tim Jones, Phyllis (Jeff) Lawrence and Melissa (John) Stevens; two honorary children, John and April Francis; three sisters, Hazel Carter, Bernice (Henry) White, and Ruth Sloan; a brother, Wendell Hoskins; 5 grandchildren, Carrie (Marty) Limeberry, Sara (Derek) Frye, Max, Steven and Dylan Jones; and two honarary grandchildren, Briwana Francis and Marcus Griffin. He was preceded in death by a step-mother, Elizabeth Jones; and two brothers, Lee Jones and J C Hoskins. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday, February 11, 2013 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Sunday, February 10 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
