Betty J. Shugars

Betty J. Shugars, 86, of Plainfield, passed away February 2, 2013 at Plainfield Health Care. She was born February 25, 1926 in Johnstown, PA to the late James and Nettie (Layton) Shearer. She was a clerk for WM H Block Company in Indianapolis. She retired in 1988 after 10 years with Blue Cross Blue Sheild in the claims department. Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 5, at 2:30 pm in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Shugars. Survivors include her children Dean James, Robert W. Jr(Lillie), Thomas B. (Patricia), Theodore W. (partner Ken), Darrel W. (Anita), Patrick B. (Kimberley) Shugars and Melissa J. (Gary) Abbott; brothers in-law, Paul Shaffer and Thomas Upton Shugars; sisters in-law, Lillian Shearer and Hazel Brim; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
