Zoe E. Smith Imhausen, 88, of Clayton, IN passed away January 29, 2013. She was born April 24, 1924 in Bluffton, IN to the late Howard C. and Minnie Eva Smith. She was the valedictorian of Southport High School in 1942. Upon graduation she attended Indiana University. Zoe worked for L.S. Ayres during her younger years and then for Christ's Corner Bookstore in Plainfield until her retirement. She loved the farm life and spent many years raising animals and gardening. Zoe was well known as an avid gardener, an accomplished baker, a kind-hearted person who saw the best in everyone, a faithful friend, a beloved mother and grandmother. She served for many years and enjoyed teaching the Bible in Hazelwood Baptist Church (9846 S.C.R. O) where a funeral service will be on Thursday, January 31, at 1:00 pm. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her son and husband, John H. and William E. Imhausen. Survivors include her children, James H. (Kathryn) Imhausen and Mary Jo Giesman; brother, Bruce (Evelyn) Smith; grandchildren, Amy, Donnie, Darla, Nate and Matt; 6 great grandchildren.
