William J. Vedder, 86, of Plainfield, passed away December 1, 2012. He was born December 23, 1925 to the late Paul and Nancy (Estes) Vedder in Rush County, IN. He was a US Navy veteran during WWII, a US Air Force veteran during the Korean War, and a veteran of the Indiana Air National Guard. He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church. He worked at GM Allisons Gas Turbine Plant in the Experimental Testing Department for over 35 years retiring in 1987. He is survived by four sons, James W., Thomas P.(Karla), Robert A.(Peach), and David M. (Kim) Vedder; four daughters, Janice M.(Sean) Porter, Kathryn A. (Joe) Meyer, Linda J.(Larry) Harvell and Elaine S.(Mike) Martin; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. (Slaughter) Vedder. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.. Entombment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
