Charles C. Gerde

Charles C. Gerde, 90, of Indianapolis, formerly of Cincinnati, passed away November 14, 2012. He was born September 28, 1922 to the late Charles H. and Marie (Curren) Gerde in Cincinnati, OH. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He attended Miami University, class of '45, and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He had been in credit and claims management for Ryerson Steel in Indianapolis for 41 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at the chapel at Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis at 12:15 pm on Monday, November 19, 2012, followed by military honors at the graveside. Charles is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Terry) Cummings, and Nancy and Patricia Gerde; two sons, Steven (Laura) and Robert Gerde; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Gerde. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
