Willie Hugh McBride

Willie Hugh McBride, 85, of Clayton, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2012. He was born October 7, 1926 to the late Herman and Drue (Rich) McBride in Hilham, TN. In 1948 he moved his family to Indianapolis. He started working for Stark & Wetzel later known as Rath Packing for over 30 years. He also worked at Cloverleaf & Suncrest Apartments located in Indy almost another 20 years. His life was very productive and full. He enjoyed gardening, some people have a green thumb, he must've had a green hand; producing so much for everyone to share. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, pickin' apples. He was a record setter at most everything he did. His stories were always entertaining. Mostly, his love for God spoke loudly to all who knew him. Throughout the years he attended several different churches the last one being Life Temple Church of Clayton. During the past forty years he served as SS Superintendent and on the board. Willie is survived by two daughters, Betty (Leonard) Frederick, and Carolyn (Charles) Gilmer; 6 grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Carrie, Randy, Ryan & Bobbie; 7 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, Jordan, Jeremy, Seth & Summer; 15 step great grandchildren; great great granddaughter, Ava Marie (Jeremy's daughter); and 4 brothers, Landon, Roy, Joe and Bennie. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Addie L. McBride (2001); two sons, Bobbie and James W. McBride; and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday, September 14, 2012 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Thursday, September 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial, Clayton Cemetery.
