Iona Jean Mote

Iona Jean (Price) (McKibben) Mote was born October 6, 1925 in Plainfield, IN. Iona Jean passed away in the home of her daughter and son-in-law Ruth Ann and Rich Powell in Galveston, IN. on September 7, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dawson and Ruth Price and husbands, Monte E. McKibben and Martin W. Mote. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Rich Powell of Galveston, IN, three grandsons, Todd (Lori) Powell, Troy (Emily) Powell, Tim (Tatia) Powell and 9 great grandchildren, Natalie, Caleb, Jared, Hannah, Paige, Lauren, Blythe, Griffin and Addison. Iona Jean and her husband Monte owned a printing company in Muncie, Indiana before moving to Plainfield. She retired from GM-Allison Transmission in 1982. She and her husband Monte were Worthy Matron and Patron of Order of Eastern Star in Plainfield. She was also a member of Rainbow Girls and the Plainfield United Methodist Church. Iona Jean was a member of the Elks Club and Delta Alpha Gamma, Beta Chapter Sorority. Iona Jean and Monte enjoyed square dancing and bowling and she also enjoyed playing bridge several times a week. For the last 6 years, she has lived with and been cared for by her daughter and son-in-law. Her grand kids and great grand kids have been the joy of her life. Services are Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield, IN. Visitation is from 11:00 - 1:00 with the service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions can be made to Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 621, Rochester, IN 46975 or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
