Kenneth Robert Barker, 88, of Plainfield, passed away August 24, 2012. He was born January 31, 1924 to the late Elza and Margaret (York) Barker in Bloomfield, IN. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a project superintendent for Geupel-DeMars, and a general superintendent for Ellis Construction before he became owner/operator of Kenny Barker Construction. He retired in 2005. His memberships include the Hendricks County Honor Guard, the American Legion, Scottish Rite, Carpenters Union Local 60, and the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge. He was a member and served as trustee and many other positions at the Rosedale Hills UMC, 4450 S. Keystone Ave., Indianapolis, 46227, and where services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, August 27 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield and two hours prior to services at the church. Burial with military honors and committal services will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gayle (Blaker) Barker. He is also survived by two sons, Andy C. (Linda) and Monty C. (Kathy) Barker; a brother, Dwight Barker; 3 grandchildren, Randy and Jeremy Barker and Elaine Bonadies; and 1 great granddaughter, Lucy Barker. He was preceded in death by a brother, Emerson Barker; and two sisters, Garnet Malone and Carmen McCalment.
