Anita Mae (Thompson) Hunt

March 23, 1926 — May 10, 2012

Anita Mae (Thompson) Hunt, 86, of Plainfield, passed away May 10, 2012. She was born March 23, 1926 on Walnut Ridge in Washington County, IN, the oldest of three children of the late Talmage and Edna Thompson of Campbellsburg, IN. She grew up in Rush Creek Valley of Washington County, IN. She married David L. Hunt on April 1, 1956 in Marion County, IN, combining their two families and adding two boys of there own. In her early years she was a licensed professional cosmetologist and later became a career employee of the Indiana State Employment Security Division as a fraud investigator and branch manager. Her greatest joy was her family. She spent many hours and traveled many miles researching the family genealogy and visiting geographically dispersed family members. One of her proudest moments was being accepted as a certified member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 15, at 11:00 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call on Monday, May 14, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Entombment will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, David L. Hunt; children, L. Dean Huffman (Pat), Vallonia,IN, Jane E. Carson (Dick), Jonesboro, GA, Inspector. US Dep. Marshall (Ret.) David A. Hunt (Denise), Boise, ID, J. Ann Barnes (David-deceased), Sarasota,FL, John H. Hunt, (Brenda), Mooresville, IN, Dr. Joseph M. Hunt (Michelle), Avon, IN; step-son, D. Bruce Brackney, Buckeye, AZ; brother, Jim D. Thompson (Patti) Lutz, FL; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her daughter, Patty Geiger (Bob), son-in-law, Dr. David Barnes and sister, Laura A. Traylor. The family wishes to thank the Hospice staff at Sugar Grove Senior Center for all their help and support. Remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice or the American Cancer Society.
