William James Whitaker, 70, of Plainfield, passed away February 25, 2012. He was born November 20, 1941 to the late Oscar Lee and Zona Belle (Phelps) Whitaker in Indianapolis, IN. He was a 1960 graduate of Plainfield Community High School and was a US Army veteran. He worked as a machine operator for Link Belt/Rexnord for 38 years retiring in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn R."Bobbie" (Howe) Whitaker; a son, Brian J. (Gina) Whitaker; two daughters, Marsha S. Whitaker and Michele L. (Jack) Estes; two brothers, Harold and Don Whitaker; four sisters, Pauline Fields, Evelyn Martin, Alberta Norton and Doris Elmore; and three grandchildren, Julian Lehman and Jack and Grace Estes. There will be no calling or services. The family requests that in memory of Bill memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations, Disabled American Veterans, Feed The Children, St. Judes Childrens Hospital, People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA), ASPCA, In Defense Of Animals, Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, or National Wildlife Federation.
