James Curtis Neal, 68, of Avon, passed away January 26, 2012. He was born October 30, 1943 to the late Melvin and Mary (Hendrickson) Neal in Indianapolis, IN. He was a 1961 graduate of Pittsboro High School. He served 4 years in the US Air Force as a security policeman obtaining the rank of Sgt.. He was a member of the American Legion Post #777. He was a singer and musician playing guitar in several country music bands around Indianapolis from 1968 through the 70's and 80's. He worked for Galyans and Walts's supermarkets, and Allisons Truck and Bus Plant retiring in 1988. He had been a member of the UAW Local #933 and #23. He was an avid auto racing fan and had served on the Board of Directors of the Hoosier Auto Racing Fan Club. He is survived by an uncle and several cousins. Graveside services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the K of P Cemetery, Lizton. There will be no calling.
