Richard Dan McClain

Richard Dan McClain, Ed.D, 73, of Avon, passed away Oct. 25. He was a graduate of Avon H.S., Milligan College (B.S.), Butler Univ. (M.S.) and Nova Univ. (Ed.D.) He taught and coached in the Clayton and Danville schools prior to teaching in the Dominican Republic for two years. On his return, he served as principal at Lizton, Pioneer and Western Boone schools. He spent the last 13 years of his career in education in Japan and Venezuela. He is survived by his wife, Janet, children: Scott (Susan) McClain; Michelle (Mark) Turnbull; David (Wendy) McClain; Jonathan (Jessica) McClain; Bob Finchum: 9 grandchildren; sister Ruth Summerlot; nephew Ricardo (Phyllis) Summerlot; niece Rhonda (James) Clough; very best buddy Rex (Kay) McClain and many other extraordinary relatives. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Plainfield Christian Church, 800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield.
