Alton J. Gearhart

Alton J. Gearhart, 79, of Plainfield, passed away August 21, 2011. He was born January 2, 1932 to the late Harry and Gladys (Bower) Gearhart in Lock Haven, PA. He retired from the US Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1970 after twenty years of service to his country. He is survived by a son, Timothy J. (Lynmarie) Gearhart; two daughters, Melissa M. (David Lynn) Phillips, and Niemah A. (Christopher) Scherlacher; a brother, William (Lucy) Gearhart; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie I. (Cann) Gearhart. He was a member of the Plainfield Bible Church where sevices will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield on Wednesday August 24 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial, with military honors will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
