Mary Jane McManus, 88, of Yorktown, formerly of Rushville, passed away July 20, 2011. She was born December 11, 1922, the second child and only daughter of the late Robert and Beulah (Pedigo) Singer in Indianapolis. She graduated from Washington High School in 1940 and attended Hanover College and received her undergraduate and Masters Degrees from Butler University. She taught two years in Indianapolis before marrying Mauzy R. McManus of Rushville, June 16, 1946. Jane had been a member, Elder and later an Elder Emeritus of Main Steet Christian Church in Rushville, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, at 12:00 pm with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Rushville. There will be a memorial service at The Waters of Yorktown at 3:30 pm the same afternoon. Jane was also a member of the Daleville Christian Church. Other memberships include being a 61 year member of PEO (Chapter M in Rushville and Chapter CV in Muncie), PTA, Christian Women's Fellowship and Art Club. Jane was able to enjoy world travel. Besides trips to Florida and North Carolina to see family, Jane got Mauzy to join her for trips to Austria and France. She also was able to visit England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Jack Singer, his wife, Ruth and their son, Randy. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Mauzy R. McManus, Yorktown; children, Gregg (Jane Hackett) McManus of Evansville, Cynthia (Bill) Hall of St. Cloud, FL, Melissa (Ron) Daubenspeck of Raleigh, NC and Rev. Gary (Deb MacDougall) McManus of Daleville, IN; 6 grandchildren, Thomas, Melissa, Catherine and Lizz McManus, Scott and Katie Daubenspeck. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Main Street Christian Church, Rushville or Daleville Christian Church, Daleville, IN. Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling arrangements.
