W. P. "Buck" Wingler, 92, of Plainfield, passed away April 25, 2011. He was born January 22, 1919 to the late Jesse and Leona (Deem) Wingler in Hendricks County. He was married to Mary Ann Barnes for 62 years who preceded him in death in 2002. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1937 where he served as class president all four years. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII (The big one!) having served in the foreign theatre. Buck, as he was commonly known, was an entrepreneur with many successful businesses to his credit, most notable Carrico Furniture, and Robco Distributing. He was a longtime member of the Light and Life Free Methodist Church of Avon. He faithfully served the Free Methodist Church in many capacities, and also served as Trustee for Greenville College. He is survived by his three children, Shirley (Ken) Sheriff of Salem, MO, Barbara (Dean) Jones of Plainfield, and Mark (Debbie) Wingler of Brownsburg; two brothers, H. L. (Bill), and Jesse Wingler; two sisters, Beulah Bassett and Jo Ann Noble; six grandchildren, Wendy (Jamie) Lankford, Brad (Launa) Sheriff, Greg (Erin) Jones, Marci (John) Anderson, and Jake and Madison Wingler; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary,a granddaughter, Kristina Wingler, and three brothers, Wayne, Harold and Maurice Wingler. Funeral services will be at the Light and Life Free Methodist Church, 8264 E. CR 100 S in Avon at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 28, 2011, where friends may call on Wednesday, April 27 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and on Thursday one hour prior to services at the church. A private burial will be held at Clayton Cemetery. Contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization.
