Ruth Ellen (Bond) Crawford

Ruth Ellen (Bond) Crawford, 86 of Avon, passed away March 26, 2011. She was born September 24, 1924 in Indianapolis to the late Walter and Clara (Auten) Bond. She was raised by Walter and Johnnye (Thompson) Bond after the death of Clara. She was a graduate of Clay City High School, class of 1942 and a 1947 graduate of Indiana Central College. She taught school in Pimento,IN and Trotwood,OH early in her career. She retired in 1990 from Methodist Hospital as a secretary. Ruth was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 31, at 10:00 am with visitation from 9:30 am until time of service. Additional calling will be March 30, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Gene P. Crawford. Survivors include sons, Charles (Teresa) and Philip (Jennifer) Crawford; daughter, Sue Ellen (Gary G.) Robinson; brother, Donald (Janice) Bond; sister, Sue (Drue) Shouse; grandchildren, John Ryan Jones, Andrea Robinson, Bill Jones, Alexander Crawford and Jacqueline Ruth Crawford; great grandchildren, Xaden Valentine and Haley Jones.
