Betty H. Dunaven

Betty H. Dunaven, 87, of Plainfield, passed away January 31, 2011. She was born October 20, 1923 to the late Robert J. and Virnetta (Sharp) Hiatt in Overland, MO. She was a US Marine Corps veteran of WWII. She was a bus driver for the Plainfield Community School Corp for 19 years retiring in 1985. Her memberships include the Messiah Lutheran Church in Brownsburg, Methodist Guild, and the Plainfield Women's Bowling League. She also was a volunteer for the Hendricks County Meals on Wheels and delivered books for the Plainfield Public Library. Betty is survived by two daughters, Robin (Terry) Bowen and Becky Johnson; a brother, Robert "Bud" Hiatt Jr.; sister, Shirley Curtis; 4 grandchildren, Cynthia Bowen, Wendy Brotski, Bradley Rigdon, and Rachel Canning and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce N. Dunaven. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, February 3, 2011 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Wednesday February 2 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial, Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
