Roy B. Sullivan, age 84, of Plainfield, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2011. Mr. Sullivan was born in his grandmother’s home in Russell County, Kentucky to Cassius and Balla Polston Sullivan.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nelda Sullivan, his children, Carolyn (Monte) Archer, Brenda (J.R.) Powers, Roy Mitchell (Latena) Sullivan and Aneita (Walt) Lemke.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Carl (LaDonna) Kelle III, Lisa (Jeff) Cunningham, Ryan (Amanda) Montgomery, Rebekah Montgomery, Benjamin Montgomery, Jeffrey Broyles, Balla (Jim Gokenbach) Broyles, Jeremy (Mandy) Broyles, Richard Lemke, Melissa Lemke, Miranda Brimhall. Great-grandchildren include: Brittany, Lauren, Jacob, Addy, Macy, Grayson, Ava, Braxton, and Drake.
Surviving siblings include: Fern (Virl) Murray, Geneva Underwood, Terrill (Shirley) Sullivan, Roger (Patty) Sullivan, and one sister-in-law Marjorie Sullivan. Brothers who preceded Mr. Sullivan in death are: Huston, Earl, and Gilbert Sullivan.
Mr. Sullivan retired from Bridgeport Brass in 1979 after 25 years of loyal service. He also farmed in Clayton, Indiana. Mr. Sullivan was a charter member of Bethel Church of the General Baptist in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, Indiana, with Reverend Wayne Murray officiating.
All of Mr. Sullivan’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be at Center Valley Cemetery.
